If one author has an item they want to give another author the rights to sell/support, (transfer the rights) etc.. is this possible (to move an exiting theme from one author’s account to another author’s account)?
If so what is the process? Would the first author need to remove the item from his account and the second author would have to reupload as a new item OR can themeforest/envato make the switch? If they can “make the switch” what happens to the ratings, stats, etc.. do they come over or start fresh?
Envato can (they did this a few weeks ago for Fundify) but it’s done on a case-by -case process so you would need to talk to support about how to do it etc
Do you know about this:
“If they can “make the switch” what happens to the ratings, stats, etc.. do they come over or start fresh?”
For example what happened in the fundify example?
It’s not allowed.
Just found Fundify theme is now residing in a new profile that is created on May 2014. But the theme is already shown as created in March 2013. 2K sales count. But all the ratings are new we guess (there are only 10, means it may be new ratings only – but not sure about it) and the same goes to comments.
Glad that Envato permitted this migration. So it will be on future also – may be it will be helpful to any author having a very genuine reason. Good motive from Envato here. It’s good.
Just saw their comment form. Astoundify (the first owner of Fundify theme) has made it well clarified in the new item comment form itself. They sold it to the new author so that the new guy can handle support and get revenue of the item. Cool
Envato could everything. Just convince them that this is realy necessary
Cool, thanks for the info everyone
Currently its not available, check scottwills post in thread, last post. http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/what-does-this-theme-on-this-page/134858?page=4
... Policy on Item Transfer Between Two Parties
As for our policy on transferring items/themes between owners, we do not presently have one. Our immediate focus right now is to better understand the technical aspects of these transfers before creating a policy around that. We do have a few more tests scheduled in the future, but won’t have an official policy for several months. What we do currently have ‘policy’ on, that you may have already seen in our forums, is that we do not allow discussion of item sale/transfer in our forums. When we see these threads, we disable them but we keep a record of them internally for future reference. With this in mind, we politely request and suggest holding off on posting any item transfer requests in our forums or via a Support ticket until we’ve determined the best way to move forward with this and provide a fair and reasonable solution that benefits our community.
Thank you so much once again for observing this issue and sharing your feedback with us and we apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused....
