Comments search is very good idea. :)
But, removed comments are also displayed. So, it’s very bad for authors… :(

Thanks for spotting this! The search team are now aware and will fix it shortly.

Deleted comments are now visible, and no option to flag them. Please fix asap.

Yup. Deletions aren’t getting picked up and removed from the index properly. Working on a fix for that now. That’s a bug, and it’s our bad sorry :(

In the interim, I’ve kicked off a full reindex of the search data, so it will be synced properly up for the moment.

Did the comment display order change to show the newest at the top of the page, like a blog?

Notice this too.
Well done for the search function.

So, with the display order changed it now shows “page 1” always as the current page. That means every time we link to a comment the link will be broken as soon as the next page starts. It also means that any existing links to the bazillion comments out there are invalid now? Let’s get the page numbering fixed back to the previous way and it should solve both problems.

One more weird thing, the item title isn’t showing on the comments tab.

Also, the search should be weighted toward newer comments. For example, maybe a feature didn’t exist 2 years ago, but has since been added. I’d hate for a customer to search for “feature A” and find a comment that says “no, that is not a feature”, when in the meantime it has been made part of the product.

I think maybe we need better comment curation abilities now that we have search. Perhaps something like being able to mark comments as excluded from search (by the author) – comments that are no longer relevant to the current version of the item (whether regarding features or solutions) should be excluded from results, or this could just cause greater customer confusion.

Thanks guys!

Just checked back and noticed deleted comments are still showing – this is a pretty big deal… anything you can do until the search itself is fixed????
