Ah ok, if it didn’t move through the official upload channels then it could totally make sense. I wasn’t trying to attack, I just thought it deserved a proper explanation.

Sorry for the VERY late reply.

First, let me say that I was very new to the reviewing process when confronted with blabus’ file and yes I did indeed see and review his file.

Here are some of my reasonings for not approving his file:

The demo is very well styled and makes the component look fantastic but under the hood the JavaScript leaves a bit to be desired. Global variables, obtrusive event handling, obtrusive class-names, browser-sniffing (etc.) make it, in my eyes, unsuitable (quality-wise). You may not think so but the code is actually VERY important!

Additionally there is no non-JavaScript fallback; no scrollbars; nothing!

Also, It is available for free online:

The two components (mine and Blabus’) are only simiar in one way: the fact that they both are “scrollers” – other than that there is very little similarity between them; the techniques used are very different. And, I only started creation of my “handScroller” component YESTERDAY !

I’m not as shallow as some of your comments make me out to be. :)

Wow. Thanks. :)

No really, I do agree with the coding comments, however I’m unfortunately not a seasoned professional, but a self-taught 18 year old. :)
