Yes much more objective. And it’s a good argument except before the iPhone/iPad you didn’t really need backup HTML . Because 99% were able to view your site. So yeah it’s important, but only because of Apple.

Sorry, gotta disagree. It is important to have backup html for as much as possible. The iPad / iPhone doesn’t change the fact that Flash is an enhancement, not a baseline technology. Accessibility and choice are factors which make a baseline technology like HTML an important foundation before progressive enhancement with JavaScript and/or Flash.

The iPad is the ugliest thing in this world and I wouldn’t imagine myself going around with that thing to surf the web… and I’m an apple lover!

I’m not afraid about this stupid device and I don’t think that it will be the most used thing to surf the web… I think it’s a flop, so I don’t really care about it.

Flash isn’t supported just because the poor performances of this expensive crap… I’m sure that as soon as this portable technology will be more powerful we’ll see flash on it for sure.

Well you have a point about accessibility, but Flash can be accessible too.

Personally, I used to only create backup html for SEO purposes. And the only reason I switched to full html backups was because clients wanted to see their site on the iPhone.

I was backed up yesterday. But the chocolate milk I drank helped to get things flowing again. I haven’t tried using HTML for that yet though. Maybe next time.
