This is the second time this week that one author on GR succeeded to upload a new file with a thumbnail and preview of one of his old successful files, along with a prominent “UPDATED” word on it. It looks like a slick exposure to me! He is obviously doing this to show that he updated the old file. After some time he just change the thumbnail and preview image to the correct one. On a first glance it all looks like an innocent mistake. But only to an untrained eye.

In case you wonder why would an author do that and loose the exposure of the new file… Well, if you would upload as many files as this guy does every other day (often more than half page of files), you would easily sacrifice that one file for exposure of an old successful file.

Question to the staff: How can this go through?

Do you mean he deleted and re uploaded the old file?

No. He uploaded a new file with a new name, but with the thumb and preview from one of his old, recently updated files. Twice so far (for different files).

Well I guess it’s the reviewers fault for letting it through…

Hey Monika!

Would you be able to throw all of the details (summary, links, screenshots, etc) into a Support Ticket so that we can look into this for you?

Thanks! :)

Christian

Yes, some of them are not quite exact. :zipped:

@MhW, while I have your attention… Does Envato ever plan to do anything about the copycats, scammers and people submitting stolen assets in items? At the moment it looks like there’s very few true authors left on this marketplaces. It’s all copy of the copy of the copy …

Give them the benefit of the doubt, is hard to know every file here and they can’t catch all this attempts. We don’t know how many items they reject for being to similar because you can’t see the preview of rejected items.

Absolutely! Copyright and Intellectual property is something we take extremely seriously.

At the same time, It’s important to remember that we can’t police the internet. Excluding PhotoDune, there are over half a million (nearly 600k) items for sale on our Marketplaces, so it’s very difficult to keep on top of what has already been approved and check it against new submissions.

This is why we rely on users such as yourself, authors and the community to bring copyright and IP issues to our attention. They’re the highest priority Support Ticket we receive and are usually, if not always, followed up within 24 hours.
