I was brainstorming some ideas for my own support forum and thought of something that would be really cool here on the marketplaces.
What if…
When a user leaves a reply comment on a forum thread or replies to a users comment on an item page, the original author can mark the comment something like “this answered my question” or “resolved” on the comment.
In return, the person receiving this would get a point (or something) and after x amount of points they would get a badge (yes, another badge idea I guess).
Personally, I think this would be good for all parties involved since it would help other users see the presumed answer quickly and it would reward users that help out.
Win win.
It gives you another reason to help out – I like the idea.

Nice idea but we first need a search for the comments. At least the guys who use those any more. We where sick of the comments and we made a forum. A two day job with design and custom codding + the theme and it’s worth it. No more messing with emails. Users can update their profile pages with their personal FTP and WP info. It’s a dream over emails and comments. I suggest everybody should take that step!
Nice idea mate, I like it!
Yeah, cool idea
Search for comments is not mandatory. Comments can be sorted by validity of response – similar as stackoverflow.com
