I read that the original “keep calm and carry on” poster was never actually used for its original purpose. (It was a propaganda poster in WW2 Britain.) I kinda wonder what the guy who designed it would think about how it gets used these days. :)

It was designed as a public morale boost during times when a German invasion seemed inevitable, i still have a relatives original ration book with a keep calm leaflet inside. It keeps screaming “ebay me, ebay me!” – They are more popular now than they were back then, I don’t think they were widely used in areas outside of the capital, and even then nothing much became of them, it took several years of internet memes to do what the British government couldn’t. lol.

I think a few years ago someone got the rights to sell the design on t shirts and mugs and so on, that might have helped make it big.
