LeafPing (beta) - Get Envato notifications via SMS or Boxcar!

I’m not sure about the rest of you out there, but I’ve been in need of a very simple way to get notified when I get sales, comments or referral cuts. There are plenty of mobile apps out there, but they don’t seem to PUSH me notifications like they should. I think I’ve come up with a solution and it’s called LeafPing:

Basically, you sign in with your Envato username and API key, and it pulls down your data, generates a nice dashboard of recent notifications and then allows you to set up SMS (if you’re in the US) and/or Boxcar notifications, simply by adding your phone number and/or Boxcar email address. It literally takes seconds to set up.

Every 15 minutes, a cron script is run and it sends out notifications to its users.

But here’s the coolest thing: It COMBINES notifications and sends you an updated balance as well. So for example, let’s say you get 3 sales, 2 comments and a referral cut—all in that 15 minutes since the last notification… Well, your notification would look something like this:

“You have received 3 Sales ($23.13), 2 Comments and 1 Referral Cut ($12.00) since the last update! Current Balance: $465.12”

Oh, and LeafPing is absolutely free to use. Enjoy.

The limitation is actually a limitation of Google Voice, which is what LeafPing uses to send the SMS out for free.

If you have a smartphone, Boxcar is just as good if not better.

There is no boxcar for Android ... and i am not from US .... good application anyway .i really like the idea.

every 15 minutes may get a bit much after a few hours… particularly at 3am… lol

I’d also rather not wake up with (8hrs x 4 messages/hr) 32 text messages!

looks cool… you could use apple push notification and C2DM (shameless plug.. look at my profile)

if you contact me i could provide you something custom for free to get it set up. as i would love something like this…

Well it only sends you a notification if there’s something to send. If you haven’t received any sales, comments or referral cuts, you won’t get any notifications. I’m also thinking about adding a “quiet time” setting to avoid those 3am notifications.

From what I’ve read, the Google Voice API for SMS only supports US phone numbers right now. Wouldn’t hurt to try though, it’s free to sign up!
