Hey guys,

I have just received a phone call from unknown person from my country who saw one of my themes for sale in another place. It is a funny situation I would like to share.

There is a guy (WEB STUDIO actually :D ) who bought one of my themes and uploaded it in the commercial extensions section of the official web site for the open source system the theme is for.

I was wondering how it is possible to call yourself web studio with a 6 years background and experience (even in Pakistan) and do things like this?

Did you experienced something like this before?

Thanks god it is not an author here and just a buyer. I am wondering where the professional ethic ends in our business area. :)

Yeah, the extensions section of the mentioned site is a complete anarchy.

Thankfully I know Daniel Ker and the theme would be removed as soon as he see my message but such unprofessional behavior from a web studio with 6 years background is something that scares me.

Hahah, this experienced web professional is trying to intimidate me now that if I don’t stop reporting him he would upload all my themes to 100+ warez sites.

He just want me to let him earn money from my work without any problems. Is this a common practice in Pakistan? :)

You shouldn’t fear the wares sites. Most users don’t even know where to find them. Besides, most people will buy your theme because they want the support and lifetime (hassle free) updates. And then there’s also ethics and copyright reasons.

So let him upload it to 100+ wares sites. Then sue him for exactly that, including the email he send you. You will win this for sure, no doubt ;)

That was exactly what I told him. :) I would prefer people to use my themes for free than let him earn money from my work. :)

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that people can be utter d-bags irrespective of their nationality. :)

Edit: Oops! Is the expansion of d-bag an allowed word here?
