Hey all,

I’ve been using wordpress for about a year now to design websites for my clients. If there’s one thing I’ve found that seems to be consistent with all themes I’ve used to try and deliver my client’s product it’s that they all tend to have quirks and issues with CSS , PHP and so on.

I want to get where I am cranking out site after site and I basically design by creating a psd that includes a basic shell for the site. I then chop it up into the background, the header, the body and the footer. Then I go to surgery and put the stuff in place.

What I really want is a wordpress template though that is so well commented, so well organized that it’s a snap to go in and make things happen. For instance, people using little pieces of image to create spaces between links? Seriously? Is this 1999? I really don’t mean to sound like a jerk so my apologies. But bottom line I really need a professionaly coded template that makes my efforts much more streamlined. And I’ll be the first to admit I AM NOT THE ONE TO DO IT . Plain and simple I’m really scatter brained. I don’t comment all the time, I don’t always follow the best syntax and sometimes I forget to tab in my code. Stuff like that. That’s why I need someone else who DOES do all that kinda thing to make a great basic template I can use for projects. A dark template and a light template, and then we’re set!

Does anyone else feel my pain or does anyone else have a template or theme they can recommend??

look for some wordpress framework themes, like Thesis or check comments and ratings for wordpress themes in themeforest, people sometimes praise authors for their clean code etc

Thanks! There’s quite a few great templates that meet your criteria if you search through the top sellers or the managers selection :) . Short of that, there are a number of excellent frameworks out there as has already been suggested.

You definitely don’t sound like a jerk. In web design today, there is absolutely no excuse for ridiculous bad practices like those. I’d also recommend epicera, I really like his/her style.

Frameworks seem like more hassle than they’re worth to me.
