Down the road from that is a popular beach front restaurant. They occasionally get waves coming up to the bottom of the windows. But today they had waves going through the restaurant. Like…. up to the roof..

Most of northern Queensland was also digitally cut off from the rest of the world until this afternoon. No mobile phone calls, no landline phone calls, no ATMs, no internet, no emergency phone numbers .. all due to a couple of fibre optic cable failures. Airport is closed here too. My parents are up in Cairns (great weather there!) trying to get home, bit hard to book a new flight with no phone/internet.
So many crazy videos and pictures are coming out it’s insane. Like this baby that was put in a bag and winched up to a helicopter:
Quite a few pics etc.. popping up here: https://www.facebook.com/GoldCoastWeather
Intense weather, we’re sitting here wondering if our house will flood or not. There has been heaps of rain up in the mountains and we’re getting a king high tide tonight, so they might meet here at the same time. EEEPP!
I ventured out this arvo Dave, had to get my dog put to sleep. So no alternative, I was flabberghasted at the carnage eveywhere , one of the creeks down in Birkdale.. which fisherman fish over the low bridge, had a multi million dollar cat wedged under, must have been set adrift in the massive storms.
Trees uprooted everywhere, my mates place in thorneside, only 1/2 k from me, totally flooded. My daughter lives over nr Moggill, they are bracing themselves for high tide and battening down hatches. They still have no power, and not expected for another 3 days min.
