It doesn’t have to be a separate email for every notification, it could be in a daily digest format, like Google groups has. Basically a combined email of any notifications.

Just an automated message to buyers of your file whenever your file update is approved would be a good idea. Something like “The file “Amazing Banner Rotator” which you purchased on FlashDen has been updated by the author. Please go to your downloads tab and download the file again to get the latest update.” Maybe attached a version number to each file. So all files will default to v1.0 and when you update your file it automatically changes it to v1.1 and is displayed on file and downloads page so buyers can easily tell what the latest version is.
