This should be increased. There’s no sense to limit it to 500mb, when someone release 20 or so stock footage files at the same time, each 100-200mb, right?

+ 1GB ;) – we def must get more today, at least for the Full HD ‘PACKS’ of motion graphics and sequential video shots…

It’s pretty tricky for instance with a C4D AE hybrid project, that you should be expected to include all the high-res textures (a decent high res texture on its own can be several hundred mb), C4D project files, blank chain render (the go between between C4D and AE… black image sequences), AE project files, potentially pre-render elements for plug-ins and a juicy 45 minute screencap video tutorial showing you how to do it all inside 500mb.

Whereas for stock footage or a motion graphic, that’s fine…. you can get an HD file of moderate length, moderately compressed into that.

But it’s a much harder job for projects and you have to start thinking about it right from the outset… or alternatively just forget about video user guides / pre-renders and all of that stuff.

I’m just backing up a live 3D / AE project. 250GB.

1GB now! :)

I was actually going to start a similar thread a few weeks ago. 500mb seems fairly low, especially for the C4D hybrid files with all the extras like felt mentioned.

I wonder if there are any plans to increase the limit soon? 1gb would be nice.

Agreed, I sometimes have to re-render some of the prenredered elements to meet the 500mb line, I usually go over about 50-100mb after compression. I try at all cost to avoid too much PhotoJPEG as it gives me too much banding, even at 94%

Maybe with the 1GB limit, I might actually make 1080p projects ;)

Actually I was talking about 1280×720. Still 500mb is not enough. :)

But, I don’t know if anyone is listening to us. Mark?

Yeah I know, I only make 720p projects now because the file size limit is limiting me from making 1080p ;) I’m sure Mark reads most of the threads here, just doesn’t respond.

Is there a way to get a estimated file size when rendering? We get a estimated time remaining :P

I’m sure Mark will weigh in eventually. It’d be nice to get his input.

Why not? For some “ae only” projects is enough 100kb, but for some renders 500mb is not enough…
+1 for 1gb limit. or maybe 500mb, but as average item size per user?
