Also, I`d like to add an additional comment . Dear customers, please read and re-read carefully the description of the file before you buy it. I`ve had a few cases where the customers thought that the file was a “different thing” and I assume they rated it low because they were disappointed even though it was just 4$. :D

This is a good thread.

I noticed something curious: when a someone buys an item and, for some reason, he is disappointed about its features, etc most likely the first page he goes is the rating page, to give his negative rating. While the happy customers often write their positive comments and appreciation on item’s comments section, but somehow they forget to rate the item!

I’m not sure if I am breaking a rule by this, and I apologize for that, I just want to remind customers not to forget to rate stuff that they buy. More you rate, more chance to get free file that you need/want, by monthly selection of Envato team. :)

You can always leave a simple README file in the root folder of your ZIP package – one that says ‘Please rate my files on {link to page}’. Not everyone will read it – but you can increase your chances.

You will probably have more luck with that, then requesting it through the forums. Very few buyers use the forums to find their files.
