Let’s make a document / petition with all the authors / members feedback about this and send it directly to Collis or to whoever is responsible with this. We’ve already seen they are not doing anything if we open topics, we need to do more.

They are doing what is technically easier. Making a banner takes couple of hours than adding “Similar items” section on marketplace Downloads page. They prefer spending their time on former one as that’s easy money / easy growth.

Lazy, inefficient and eventually dishonest.

Yeh I don’t agree with this. Microlancer falls under the Envato umbrella but is technically not part of the marketplaces since it’s not selling products but creative services. So putting a banner to this foreign site under marketplace authors portfolios is a bit unfair. Envato is using our work to push another site – but to them it’s all about expanding the Envato Empire.. the next big idea while the flagship sites receive less and less well needed attention. What happened to the community ethics Envato once stood for? What we need is better exposure to our files to help us sell, and now Envato is pushing traffic from our pages to an outside site, wow.

@FinalDestiny I agree with you. By opening a topic, they do nothing. So lets make a document and send it directly to Collis or to whoever is responsible with this.

I have to agree, this looks extremely spammy and amateurish.

The way to make this work for both authors and Envato is to link to the author’s Microlancer services directly in the ads. And then if the author doesn’t have a Microlancer account, just show a generic ad instead.

No, if the author doesn’t have a microlancer profile, have no ad at all. C’mon guys, are we really negotiating on what ad we should have there? This isn’t a place to place spammy ads, we’re here to sell our work, Envato gets its cut, what’s the problem? Why do we need to have all that crappy ads we do not want on our profiles?

Now here’s one more reason on why I will NEVER EVER ever think of joining microlancer. And will not recommend them to anyone. Because forcingly promoting it on the whole network only proves that it can’t generate traffic on itself. If you force something on the authors and members here… it may result in some visitors, but the annoyed users will never turn back there! And it will be your fault!

Hi everyone,

The Microlancer promotion is intended to run at the bottom of each ‘search’ and ‘category’ page. The author profile page is technically a ‘search’ results page and unfortunately this was overlooked.

This has now been corrected and the banner will no longer appear on author profile pages.
