Hi there,

A client of mine has recently requested to add a function of mobile alerts. The system is a PHP /MySQL combination. I have no idea what service to use to send text messages (SMSs)

Has anyone here ever done such a thing before?

Regards

Maybe there’s a better way, but I know you can just send an email to a phone number and it’ll send a text. You just need to know what service the phone is using. For example, if it’s att, you’d need to do it like this: [10 digit phone number]@txt.att.net. Here’s a more complete list: http://www.emrupdate.com/blogs/ducknet/archive/2008/11/30/how-to-send-email-text-messages-to-any-cell-phone-for-free-from-your-computer.aspx

I hope that helps.

Thanks Lance, I think I have a solution.

Edit: I have it working with US numbers, still can’t find anything for UK numbers.
