hi, i’m thinking about to buy a mobile template from themeforest. a normal wordpress theme i know how to install but i don’t know how to install a mobile template.

a friend of me got a mobile template and he’s got the same issue like me. when he bought the template he unzipped the compressed file and then he opened the index.html file with dreamweaver.

but the index.html doesn’t look the same like the picture of the template on the themeforest page. in the other folders he said to me, there were scripts, css and images.

i’m a little weird if i’m gonna buy one mobile template like he does and i won’t solve the issue he had – because in this case, it would be the same to me.

can anybody help? really appreciate your answers. thx.

Hi neo,

Normally a html/css template do not need an installation. All you have to do is to copy the files to your server.

Templates are not installed like wordpress themes.

When you said “open index.html file with dreamweaver” is about editing the content of it.

And yes the template opened in Dreamweaver in “design mode view” might not always look like the demo you will see online for that template. Because of the code it might include, like javascript load, php includes…

I guess the template creator did not build that template in design view mode, and did not check it to see if it works like this. The templates are done in code mode, it is the best way to build a clean code and organized one. And also it’s the best way to be edited. And editing html/css template requires some basic html/css knowledge.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

hi famous themes,

thx for your reply.

i’d like to create some mockup sites for 3 of my friends. i’ve created 3 one with compozer also with dreamweaver, but in my opinion i guess the themeforest templates look a bit more professional – so what would you recommend me to solve that issue?

appreciate your answer ;)

Is “compozer” the Mozilla Html Editor ?

I ussually work in dreamweaver code more. But any editor will do the job.

You are trying to build mobile mockups templates for your friends? Or normal desktop templates?

Both ways I recomand to use a code editor. If you allready start creating mockups for friends and you like it, I guess it is time to learn html/css better and work in code, could became a job for you to tranform templates into websites.

Yes themeforest templates are a bit more professionally made. You can try for the start some clean/simple templates you will find here on the market place and work on them.

Regards.

hi, compozer is a free html editor – quit well – not so many options like dreamweaver but also a good choice.

i used to create all my html pages by the design view. i think it’s more clear especially for beginners like me.

the point is, i don’t want to waste as many time as possible to create my mobile mockup sites. actually for one mobile mockup site i need around 20-30 minutes incl. to adapt the css.

is there a way to edit the themeforest templates in the normal (design) view?

The best way is to ask the author before you bought the template. The template author will tell you exactly if his template is looking good in dreamweaver design mode.

So my sugestion is to ask the author before you buy the item.
