FYI : If you are planning on releasing a new theme design based on a previous one (ie: change colours & pictures) it needs to be included with your original theme.

Here was my original design:

\\

And here is my new design:

\\

I submitted the new design as a new theme, because it is for a totally different market with different keywords etc… but I was told I needed to include this with my original one.

I understand why, but thought I should let others know because I couldn’t find any rules on this.

Cheers,

This seems to be more than just a color change and personally I think it should have been allowed.

yea oh well. i asked them a second time and still didn’t allow it as a new theme. it’s got css changes and changes to all the inside pages too.

i just wont spend time on similar designs in the future.

This is the the part that sucks…with the lack of rules it almost makes it spec work at least in this case.

Not specs works , if he would have include it in his item , it would have result to more sales for sure. I don’t think it deserve to be another item , if you remember we had a long long discussion about this when Epicera launch some other variations of his theme Atlantica. It’s the same thing here , a lot of good CSS changes but still , the job is really faster than re-doing a complete theme. If we can do that kind of stuff to get another item , everybody will do it and the market will be flooded.

Adding more CSS variations to your theme is not a waste of time , it make your item more valuable and distinctive to the other theme that only offer one theme.

But I respect your opinion and you did a wonderfull job by editing your them , but it’s not a new item , sorry :)

Just another exemple. Look at Twicet. Multiple skin , 1 item , lot of sales. We should learn something from that.

Personally, I think this is ridiculous. Who cares if the designs look a little similar? (They are both great designs by the way) but what if one person wanted a nice blue and pink cupcake theme, and then a dark and brown coffee theme? They are very different and I think this should be allowed. I don’t think buyers here want to spend that much work going from that first design to the second. That’s crazy :D Although I do see Envato’s part in this. Everyone would be making minor changes and then have hundreds of different files closely related and it would get all crazy. Sorry man :)
