Was thinking about that, soon there will be only multipurpose themes on most popular and yet there is no category named multipurpose, wouldn’t that be logical to have a category like that so we differentiate those themes with one click from the other niche themes? Since that multipurse word is used by all of us and lets face it some themes are really a bundle of gazilion themes in one, you actually have demo content importer for a lot of different styles that is the same if you bundled 10 themes in one.
It would be a small step but it would give niche themes a fighting chance and an easier way for clients to actually find what they need (since advance filtering system is I guess aeon’s away) That would mean removing multipurpose themes from other specify categories.
Maybe my thinking is wrong?
This could actually be a great idea! It could potentially solve the issue of the ever-growing number of themes, published under the different categories of WordPress.
I am definitely supporting this!
Hope someone will at lest think about it
Great idea +1
Not talking about multi purpose themes, but some multi-variation themes are just ridiculous.
I mean, they are basically packing 10 different themes into a single zip. If you look at the theme number 2 on popular wordpress list, its variations have no similarity, probably different css and files altogether.
Envato already banned different variations for a theme, and I think they should ban these kind of themes as well.
fuelthemes saidReally, when? And if they did that means the old themes will stay, that’s rubish since with that measure they just give them an absurd advantage.

AFAIK, you cannot upload two different variations of the same theme unless you are adding a very large new feature like e-commerce functionality.
That is not what we are talking about, we are talking about the a one theme, that has a lot of different variations of the page inside. Its like bundling more themes in one, and this would need its own category, to differentiate them from other more niche themes to give them a fighting chance since as i stated advanced filtering is far away i guess.
