Slavador, the ratio of music to sound effect files doesn’t make it harder for people to find. If they’re after sound effects, they go to the sound effects section and search within it.
As Josh mentions, it all works out — it’s really hard to sell an effect at prices as high as music files, and the cheaper effect files are much easier to sell. They’ll make you more money this way than before, despite being cheaper.
There is no public pricing guideline. We have some loose guidelines amongst the reviewers, but because there is some subjectivity in how music is judged no matter how well you plan pricing guidelines, we have to vary prices based on quality. The other major factor is length. If you want a higher priced file, submit something of high quality that is longer and more complicated — if it is longer but not of sufficient quality for that length or too much of the content is looped, it will not necessarily be priced any higher.
Of course, if we had public pricing guidelines, we wouldn’t be able to judge each file on its merits; we’d have to stick to stringent rules that will not always be relevant. This does a disservice both to authors and buyers. Our reviewers are very talented people, though, and every file is priced in a fair way that is competitive with other files of a similar nature based on its quality.
