Sorry for saying it, but that is not premium-grade template. All basic design principals are ignored. Demo content looks untidy/ignorantly (sorry again). You will not earn anything here by adding couple of images and “mrromeo on Sample blog post 2 mrromeo on Sample blog post 2 mrromeo on Sample blog post 2 mrromeo on Sample blog post 2” to bootstrap. Sorry :(

Yes I agree with you. My demo site needs some work. But did you check my other pages as well? Portfolio? Shortcodes?

It is not that bad, but definitely not that good to be accepted. There is nothing special about it, add some colors, sharpen up typography and make it little more pixel perfect.

Instead of those “728×90” or whatever placeholder images you should use some real images. Even that it is just a demo, content should look little more “real”.

But best advice I can give to you is to give it a break for a day or two, browse some other themes here or on other creative sites and then come back to your design and you should see why it got rejected.

Don’t give up

Thanks for the advise. Definitely will do it.

Using the grid to create 2/3 columns, adding an image with a border and a heading + some paragraphs doesn’t make it ready for ThemeForest, I can do that in 3 minutes.

CSS validation needs checking. Personally not a big fan of the logo font but there are other more pressing things like the footer looks incomplete.

Its definitely a good start and do not think its a million miles off just needs more detail and uniqueness to it plus check basic design and CSS principals as major validation issues will mean an automatic rejection.

Good luck

No. And that’s the worst part: I didn’t wanted to.

Let me tell you how I got here. 2 years ago trees were taller, grass greener and quality standards were much higher then now. (Yes, now quality standards are low). At that moment I was running a local web design studio for almost 6 years (first as 1-person studio; then with 3 employees).

My (our) first template was rejected with the same reason as yours. Second, third, fourth… as well. In fact I do not remember how many times my items were rejected. And every reject made me and our designer to push ourselves harder. And in some moment we got accepted to PSD category. At that time it was hardest category to get into.

The only advice I can give is “You will not earn anything here until you make a decent product. Product first.”. Make your conclusions.ยง

As I said earlier i’m a new Author. So yes I have ups and downs.

But are you sure you can create my theme in 3 minutes. You are an elite author. It doesn’t mean you can insult everyone. And are you sure my theme only has some images with borders a heading and some paragraphs?

The screenshot you given is only for “portfolio 2 column with desc” layout. There’s still 6 other layout’s there. Its a portfolio post type. So obviously 7 layouts is enough to satisfy a client.

My theme has many other stuffs like custom login page, register page, edit profile, author page, contact form, google maps, slider, 10+ blog templates, social connect, 100+ buttons, 10+ widgets, responsive videos etc.

Come on master, I’m just a beginner here in TF. I spent more than 1 month in coding this theme. So I really appreciate you, if you give me some tips to improve my theme. But you making me feel like I coded a crappy theme.

I didn’t insult you, if that’s how you understood it, it’s not my issue. What I said is that what you have in that portfolio section is nothing unique or something that would get anyone’s attention, it’s extremely simple and not premium. Check other theme’s portfolios and compare them with yours, the differences are huge.

What I think he meant is that you need more detail. Check your paddings/margins and check how the top authors approach different layouts. Also, font try to do both designer and coder work it generally doesn’t end pretty :)

I visit themeforest often. So obviously I know how themeforest stuff work.
Well, your attitude does not show that. :)

The theme lacks a graphical style. The other pages are just some simple bordered tables with different number of columns. The number of features is pretty much useless if are not embedded in a nice format that has a little class. Now it look like a default html formated site, filled with a bunch of eye-popping colored social buttons + the most boring slider ever. :)

Also, those stock photos from Envato are way too ugly to be used. Nobody likes those anymore.

Yeah.. I thought I knew more about themeforest stuff. But looks like i’m not. My theme uses bootstrap framework. So the slider doesn’t have more features. I’ll add flex slider and nivo slider. Any other suggestions?
