My very first wordpress theme got rejected :( Help me to understand my mistakes

Hello people.

Recently I submitted a theme for wordpress but it got rejected stating “does not meet our aesthetic and technical requirements”

I want to know how could I develop it further. Help me out please

I am not a pro, but the Typography looks off, and the drop-downs interfere with the layout.

The sidebar is too short and looks strange.

The footer is too large.

And the footer typography doesn’t seem to fit fit theme.

The top nav and search look out of place.

Hey thanks for your tip. I’m planning to dump that work and start on with creating a new theme but this theme I going to get feedback right from the design process so that I can learn and improve my standards.

It’s a good idea to start all over again. This theme has a lot of typography and whitespace issues.

Make sure you learn more about visual hierarchy, typographic hierarchy and effective use of whitespace before you start working on the new theme.

This is a good start if you’re a newbie. Good luck!

Hey, thanks. Could you point me to some link where I can learn about effective use of white space.

And by typography problem you mean to say that poor choice of font pairing?

your main issue is spacing. Both macro and micro, margins/paddings and line-heights. Cheers
