I used win7 64 bit (Home Prem) and get 69, 67. I just tried again with same results.

I’ll test in Ubuntu(linux) in just a second and win7 ultimate in a few minutes for you.

And I got 83, 67 in Windows 7 Ultimate.

Btw, win7 Home and Ubuntu were on the same machine while Ultimate was a different one.

Great thanks a lot splitV ..

now only if someone could test it on a mac .. i could possibly reach to some conclusion ..

and i still find it all too weird .. if the results are same on ubuntu and windows .. it could mean the problem lies in how keyboard shortcuts are implemented in javascript? because all browsers render it the same way .. but then win7 64-bit (as you guys mentioned) gives different results .. i can’t find any pattern of irregularity .. anyone got any ideas?

I’m running OS X 10 .7.2

Firefox 8
Nothing at all, not even a flicker

Chrome 15.0.874.120
#1 I get 69 whilst holding the keys
#2 I get 67 whilst holding the keys

However, with #1 when I let go of the keys it changes to 83 if I don’t let go in the reverse order (S + E + D). This doesn’t happen with #2, I can let go in any order and it stays with 67

Safari 5.1.1
#1 I get 69 whilst holding the keys
#2 I get 67 whilst holding the keys

Same as with chrome, #1 i need to let go of the keys in reverse order for it to stay 69.

Hope this helps and good luck with your testing.

@phpdude thanks a lot

i get 69 and 68 on Chrome and IE-9 on Windows 7 32-bit.

Conclusion

The following people got the right answer (which should’ve been 83 and 67):
  • splitv – Windows 7 Ultimate (not sure if it’s 64-bit or 32-bit) on Browser Not Specified
  • iapcsolutions – Windows 7 64-bit on Chrome
  • jonasdoebertin – Windows 7 (not sure if it’s 64-bit or 32-bit) on IE-9
  • australia – Operating System Not Specified on Chrome
On the following operating systems wrong numbers were noted:
  • Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (as reported by me) on Chrome, IE-9, FF 8
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (as reported by splitv) on Chrome 15 & IE-8
  • Windows XP 32 -bit (as reported by iapcsolutions) on Chrome
  • Ubuntu 11 (as reported by splitv) on Chromium 12
  • Mac OS X 10 .7.2 (as reported by phpdude) on Chrome 15, FF 8 , Safari 5

it seems that the answers vary on all operating systems which leads me to say that this might very well be an operating system related problem.

i think this needs to be reported as this would create big problems in the near future for people who wish to build apps with keyboard shortcuts.
