I have a responsive site template which is based on twitter bootstrap. I need help getting it to work on Internet Explorer 8. It is working fine in other browsers.

ie8 does not support media queries (a core element of all responsive sites) so you will never get the same look and feel but if you are simply interested in making it “work” then you will need to create a bespoke stylesheet taking into consideration early browsers
