I really don’t know why this is happening. Because I am certain this was not always the case. For some reason when I put a Photoshop effect on a shape in Illustrator, the effect renders a a huge box around the shape. I have no idea why this is happening.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I’m no expert but check in the effects menu, raster effect settings, there is a box for adding pixels around an object.

LOCK IT UP! Thanks jv_! There is indeed a setting for pixels around an object in Raster effects settings. There is also a “Background>White/Transparent” option. And there was my problem.
Have no idea why such a setting would exist….but I guess I am not quite good enough to know yet.
Thanks again for your help.
Ah glad you sorted it! I too have not yet found a use for such a setting
You are most welcome
