Need More Music/Band Themes

I work in Nashville, TN and I’m constantly doing sites for bands/artists and it would be nice to see more wordpress themes dedicated to that industry. Also would be good to see some mobile solutions too (something similiar to Mobile Roadie app)

Very much agree. Themes with decent support for audio are few and far between.

A few music related requests for the very talented theme authors here:

1) An ability to add music items to a portfolio, that’s sortable/filterable, and with thumbnails that allow you to play a track. I’ve found one or two themes that allow for this, but they either didn’t quite have the design I was looking for, or didn’t look well supported. Orman Clark’s themes are close, but I’d rather not have to click through on each thumbnail to hear the track.

2) Shortcodes for embedding music tracks on a page. A few plugins do exist, but I haven’t found one with a design sense anywhere close to that of the authors here. It seems it would simply be a matter of encapsulating jPlayer in a shortcode and giving it a nice skin.

3) All of the above should be fully supported on iOS (meaning no Flash players).

I’d buy the first theme that offered the above, and had decent support and design.

Glad to see someone else needs the same thing. With the music industry going more ‘entrepreneurial’ artists are having to take care of their own marketing. Record labels used to pay for this stuff but that era has ended.

Here are some specific features I want:

1. iTunes integration so that fans don’t have to leave the site to order music

2. Robust YouTube video player.

3. Streaming player that is somehow ‘ad supported’ and keeps data of the amount of plays.

4. Artistic design options or easily customizable themes.

5. Intense Facebook & Twitter integration.

I can personally guarantee that if someone made a theme(s) for this industry that it would go viral.

YES Please!

Some basic requirements:

Be able to play the music without having to open in a new window.

Be able to play on mobile phones, ipads etc.

Be able to play in preview of a post list or archive page or side bar

A skinnable audio layer

I plan to have hundreds of songs so it would be a non starter if the user had to open each song in a new page before he can hear it.

Basic paypal integration next to the play button(PayPal now offers easy download functionality)

Oh and rest assured there as a huge market out there. PM me and I can give you some pointers and more ideas.

Some of those tumblog themes are coming pretty close to what is needed but none of them that I have seen have a paypal integration, which will require me to pay someone else or tinker with stuff that is not in my element.

We will be coming out with our first WP theme I have the html version in my portfolio but teamed up with another author and we will be coming out with the wp version probably as close as next week and then we will be concentrating pretty much on musician themes.
