I understand there are people out there that might to do a Wordpress theme for $300 (while I don’t see how that’s possible to design and code a somewhat good WP theme in a day). But it is a little offensive that people assume that a web developer’s job is so easy, or that it takes so little time.

It sure takes some time.

This guy probably won’t do the SEO right, won’t think about tiny details like labels for the checkboxes, ajax-submission form, clear code, pixel-perfection. Or even about big issues like usability.

Call me slow, but the minimum time for me to make only the design is one day (I make wireframes too).

$200 is low even for the designing part.

I’ll give someone $200 if they can make an entire WordPress site in one work day, that’s 8 hours. And then luckykind can smack them over the head with his club for fun.

Well I got someone, $300. And for your information you would not be building a full WP site; it was just 5 costume pages. Any way filled.

You get what you pay for. And I got what I needed from this thread—a good laugh.

I wouldn’t get out of bed in the morning for $200.
