There are certain authors ( I’m not pointing fingers ), that once you release a new item, the visit, just open it, and start pointing out flaws in the item description. I mean… seriously guys?! Has it really come to that point where we sabotage our own sales with negative comments?

I highly appreciate when I get a e-mail from some author from the marketplace pointing out ” Dude, there’s a slight fault in your preview ” than getting a message on my item comment going ” That’s broken! That’s broken, and oh yeah! That’s broken too! “

What I’m trying to say is, if you feel the need to be constructive, do it privately, by e-mail, and be as harsh as you can, because in the end the bug you point out gets fixed, but the front page exposure, and all other sales that get broken because of that childish comment don’t get fixed.

Just wanted to point this out, as something that I, as an author and not a mod, or a representative of Envato noticed happening on items!

Never happend to me – yet (and I’d never do it) but I think author has full right to report this kind of comment.

When the reply is nice, what’s the case then ?
I tend to do that.
Example: “The theme is very nice, but I noticed that the portfolio image links are broken and About page title has a spelling error. Good luck!”

This hasn’t happened to me get but maybe it only happened to better known authors. Definitely terrible behavior though.

To people doing this:
Lets face it. You are leaving a negative comment on a fellow authors item because you feel threatened by their work. Maybe because it is in the same category as yours and it will outshine your own work, maybe just because you are jealous of the other authors skills compared to yours.

You would do better using the time you are currently using to find and criticize other items to improve your own skills and compete with the author on fair terms.

That is my speech for the day :)

Spelling errors on the comments page? 99% of the buyers will modify the product anyways, what difference does the spelling in the preview make? And if it bothers you how bout “nicely” sending a personal email to the author instead??

There’s nothing wrong with buyers leaving comments like this. We just hate it when our competitors do it. Because we should be supporting each other, not tearing each other down.

Comment – generally a verbal or written remark often related to an added piece of information, or an observation or statement.

it can be negative it can be positive. Its a Comment.

if it would be as you want it to be it would be place for-positive-adjectives-only.

BUT anyway…. best to say about it in private email. We all know reasons why.

Just because you have the ability to leave a negative comment doesn’t mean you should. It’s all about the Golden Rule
