Hey guys, as an icon designer I’m also frustrated, but I can understand that envato wants to keep it going with today’s design trends, the old ones was good but they been really outdated they spent a lot of time on this big new badges(i think), and they do look good in big size, and there is no way they will going to redo them just because this thread was created.

But anyway I’m surprised how designers have not thought of redrawing all badges into smaller-more simple version, they just took the big badges and shrink them into 32×32 pixel and kept all the unnecessary details, a quickie.

In this situation is only 1 way is possible to do, without redrawing big badges and keep the way as it is, first is to shrink it into smaller size like 24×24 and they can be 3 per row under user, keep the paws with color range as it was before, and redraw all badges(for small version) into flat and much more simple style, who needs little glow-stars and unnecessary lines on little badge, it looks like visual garbage.

I had around free 40 min and i made some experiment, this is not the same as it was before but might be still better then it is now, what you think about it? > http://cl.ly/image/1L2Q3p3N0o1B —-

Hi @Lazy, great to see your feedback. The one size SVG that fits all was really tricky to work with.

I don’t think that there’s a great need to create the SVGs fitting all sizes, because mainly they are used with the dimensions 32×32 (except the badges page itself, but that shouldn’t be a problem)

Sorry to repeat myself, I respect the work that is well done, the concept is interesting but I think it’s not the right timing for this type of design!
it’s never very pleasant to experience rejection, especially as there are put heart and guts,
but the point here is that the community does not recognize himself in this design,
there is some pretense of race ! but overall it is not adequacy!
The communicaty Represent what it does best in terms of design (this is also how you sell it, btw)
so Envato must be in agreement with this argument.
Some lightness to all this it does not hurt, but at some point one has to remain serious ….
Envato works well even very well I do not understand these drastic change,
normally you should refine and consolidate the image of mark!
not change everything worse and go against your own arguments !? (especially if the intent is in some years do an IPO ;) )

Damn, you’re breaking the best manager tool ever !!!
for buyer it’s just a way to have a bit of info from the author….of course
But for the authors…......
We sometimes joke about authors and their love of bagdes
But it is definitly the best way to motivate them, to set a goal to reach, all to increase the level and stay the best and maintain the momentum of this fantastic community !!!!!!
this is the basis of positive management !!!

I do not understand is that you already do a test presentation and the return was already not very positive,
suddenly why be surprised now! at the same time it serves to what the test samples?
Why not REALLY work together? it would be a little more constructive ! at some point you have to know to put his ego aside !

And this is the case for most current change! it’s just sad !

Call into question his own work, is the mark of great !

So…...................

I do agree with guys telling that these new badges look childish. There indeed is a line between “fun” and “childish” which has been crossed on this occasion.

As the other guys pointed out, they are technically not too good as well – designed for large resolution while their main use is in a bunch of tiny little icons. They must be readable.

I know that they won’t affect sales greatly but if they have a power to influence at least one prospect in a thousand, that would be -1 sale, not +1, IMHO.

Previously, I was happy to see those badges on our profile and was kind of proud to have them. Now I would really like to see them gone and I am kind of ashamed to have them there.

All in all, I would like to ask Envato to either re-design them or revert back to previous set of badges.

+1 to every point here.

I will repeat myself and try to express the main point of personal frustration from new badges.
I (along with many other authors, I believe) simply cannot accept the new achievement badges (ex-paws), which don’t have this shiny motivational look any more.
It was so exciting to go for black, go for silver, or congratulate a fellow author with new shiny gold paw!
You know, kind of an “inner corporate game” for everyone.
But these numbers.. They look more formal, than creative. As an artist, I prefer to see some artistical motivation in those achievement badges (ex-paws).
Just an amateur opinion.. But I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

To make precise, simple, adult and understandable badge set I’d recommend to hire small team of professional logo (icon) designer (only not a women, sorry, but it’s important) and art-director / copyrighter, who can thinking about clear sign idea.

not a woman? why?
