Haven’t visited this thread for a while. I heard Collis said there would be an article about this on Envato Notes, did I miss it somewhere ?

Always amusing to check the logos of those criticising the new one for Envato…..as if some of these critics have any clue whatosever what makes a good logo…

I think first impression means a lot, and my first impression of the new logo wasn’t that good. I like the idea and spirit of change, but obviously changing a brand logo like Envato is a really big move, and many people will have some kind of feeling towards such a move. I guess that explains why there are so many comments to this thread.

My bottom line would be that I really love the old logo. Some might argue that it’s because I’m so used to it and it’s difficult for me to accept change.. But I think that isn’t case here. I truly think the old logo looks better. I can’t nail down the exact reason, but perhaps it has something to do with the leaf having two separate parts, and that it looks more corporate and professional opposed to cute and perhaps a little childish as well? Hope I’m not offending anyone, just wanted to share my thoughts :)

The problem is not that the old logo being good (or something). The new logo’s curves and cuts are inconsistent for today’s users eyes (may appear good under different trend). We used to expect careful lines or edges when it comes to a simple shape. The more simple the object is, it requires more refinement targeting our eyes as well as the object. When the logo become almost a circle – it should be drawn using a circle ( :D ) otherwise it would be very difficult to please everyone’s eyes. May be the difference between old and new one is just the new one falls under risky style – when it comes to first impression.

Just wondering how it will sit with all those GraphicRiver preview image watermark. 124746 old items needs update? :D
