The whole point of it is so the author can see the problems and get them fixed. Surely that is better?
I get the logic behind this and that would be a very good thing (in a perfect world) but imho that is wishful thinking. For most people it’s already too much effort to spend a few seconds to give a rating at all. On top of that you now have to explain your rating (which is also not part of anyones skill set). Next to the few good hints you get about where to improve a script I believe that mostly you get no bad feedback at all. In an international setting I also think about all those people who are culturally bound or as part of their personality / social phobias not able to criticize or confront anyone directly. It’s much easier to stay silent than to stand up for something openly.
As a regular shopper I’m mostly concerned that these negative opinions are now often oppressed – hence ‘for me personally’ the current rating system lost it’s intended purpose to serve as an uninfluenced buyers guide.

As far as letting the author know where the script fails – I’m all for it – but
a) do it anonymously so everyone can participate without doubts
b) make it a multiple choice selection to make it easy for people.

... I buy a lot and if a script is full of errors then I’d like to express my opinion without the need to justify myself. If a script receives lots of 1-star ratings then there is most likely a reason for that …

Your are welcome to rate the item with 1 star if you feel it worth 1 star, but adding a reason and an explanation for your rating will make author fix and improve the item.

See my reasoning above – but honestly 1-star-ratings are mostly emotional responses anyways otherwise the envato staff didn’t do their job properly – which are generally known among authors to be pretty tight.
I’m also fully aware that I have no influence in changing the system here so in a way my participation in this thread is mostly motivated by my desire to vent my anger about this new method (which I did – I guess).

What would really help me out in deciding what script to buy is separate ratings for different versions. I’m always more confident in buying 3-star scripts when I see a long and detailed list of updates on the items page. Then I tell myself – ahh the author fixed all that and I can go ahead and buy. But currently I have no way of comparing reviews before and after item updates.

+1 a good idea

It seems new ratings will have names attached and old ones will all remain anonymous.

Hi everyone,

I do not know if someone has already asked this question, but I’m sure, I’m not alone… Well, one of my song in the preview, did not respond to the contents of the Zip file (Loop Cut is had a reverb at the end but in Zip file not). My mistake!!! When my buyer drew attention to that, I fixed it, but the song is still rated with one star! :) Question, if a file/item/song deserves to be vote bad, and later that mistake be fix it, can it be corrected Voting, or deleted? :)

Thanks,
Mipla
