1star ratings can be triggered by wrong impressions. Like buyers that think they buy a Wordpress theme when they buy a simple HTML template. Or items that don’t do what they were expecting to do. A wrong line in the item description can do lots of harm. Etc. :)

Now I’m 100% sure there are competing authors who purchase items and rate them 1 star! That’s just pathetic.
If item is rated 1 star only once or just couple of times it means nothing! I’m not sure there is someone who will buy an item just to give 1 star rating. Anyhow, if we have such idiot here, that will not be mass phenomenon for sure…
Well, it’s affected sales on 2 of my items! There should be a feature where authors MUST comment why they are rating an item like this, and if found invalid, the rating to be removed! :)

Authors have been asking for this feature for years, it doesn’t make sense to me why Envato allows this, it’s in their interest as well that files don’t get rated stupidly. An info box which pops out when the user is rating 1 or 2 asking “why the hell are you rating it 1 or 2?” would make sense. On one hand that would help authors improve their items, on the other hand it would discourage little assholes that are either competition or noobs.

I’d also like a list of the IP Addresses of those fellas that submit poor ratings. How about a monthly “Noob” Report?

That would be useful :zipped:

There are people thinking that 1 star is the best rating and click on mistake. Envato should add some basic description by adding a caption near the stars while hovering with a tooltip or something which states clearly the level.

Even many top selling files have a lot of 1 star rating, which cant be good for authors. Introducing comments for ratings is a good idea, but this would needed to be moderated a well, because whats the point of stylesheet is missing, not a wordpress plugin comments if they are invalid.

Great addition. Although I would like to suggest a small improvement (as others already mentioned)

1. The ratings should be placed below the sales count cause it’s less important IMO
2. Hide the bars by default and reveal them on mouseover cause currently it disturbs from the item

I added my suggestion to the Dashboard Plus settings page so you can test it by yourself:

With things like adding comments into low ratings it would be nice if you added some sort of knowledge base for keywords. eg. The stylesheet is missing
Would hide the ability to add the comment and rating and instead show a link for help

I didn’t seen this thread. Anyway what I said on the other one is:

Very happy for my MediAGrid and GlobalGallery.. not too much for FontPress and Mail Action add-on :D

If I can make a suggestion: place the ratings detail block UNDER the sales number and profile ones. In my opinion they are more important.

BTW, the rating chart is a great thing. See that the majority of the customers voted 5 stars is a great incentive.

This image should be posted on the main page to explain the source of the 1 star ratings :D

Great feature! One suggestion though, the page must provide comment section if a buyer want to rate an item 1 or 2 stars so we know his reason to give the low rating.
+1 For requiring a comment on low rating!
