@EladChai

So what do you propose ?

People cannot rate an item unless it is worthy of 5 stars ? Or lower than 5 stars and the aggregate score is unaffected

Its ratings, this is how they work.

Clearly you did not understand my point at all.

As you see even on the best files of Graphicriver there were “bad eggs” trying to ruin the good name of the item in question by rating 1or2 stars, with this new feature this will just increase their motivation to keep doing it so as its way more effective now, a feature to prevent this should had been study before implementing the new rating system. My two cents :)

as justinfrench said in the other thread about this new feature, we have no idea what buyers actually rate when they chose 1 to 5 stars.

I rate all the files I purchase 5 stars whatever the eventual problem that file may have.

This is me. no connection with how the file looks, how it works or other logical things like that.

I tend to not trust people and I think most of the population of this planet has huge mental problems so when I see the second item on this list

http://videohive.net/popular_item/by_category?category=after-effects-project-files

rated with one star, like really how can this be possible?

99% it was an author curios to see how the template was created (not easy to create curved text like that in after effects) and then just rate one star because was envious

EladChai’s tone was polite? Never mind, I give up. Yesterday a joke about “smacking a lady” was perfectly acceptable. Also I’ve personally been told to “learn how to read properly.” So now I understand, you can say whatever you want on here, just don’t use “bad language.”

Finally an update on the ratings section. But we dont like the fact that you can see the details.

If an item gets a couple of low ratings(1,2 stars) you dont know why an item did get this low rating, as this can be given by an buyer who’s pissed because the author didn’t wanted to modify the file for free(happend us a couple of times) and not because it’s file related.

And now the box with username and badges is not seen on Full HD resolution. This needs to be placed somewhere else…

Has there been no change to the Author Rating? or am I missing something? Item ratings are rounded off to half-stars, while author ratings to one-stars. Doesn’t seem right.

It may sound like a petty remark but I prefer the old way the star images were displayed. Before the update they were close together and it felt easier on the eyes and easier to quickly understand the rating (you can still check any “Popular Items” category for the old way they were displayed). Why does it need such a big gap now between each star?

Also some people are mentioning having the breakdown with the visible 1 and 2-stars might not be that great and I agree… but one thing that could be done is have a more vibrant color for the 5-stars bar and just lower that vibrancy/opacity/saturation for each of the other bars, making the 1-star the least eye-grabbing, so that buyers subconsciously focus more on the good ratings.

Anyway, cool work devs, there are just some thoughts.

I think it would be a good idea to have a rating subsystem with categories

- functionality
- documentation
- ease of installation
- customizability
- graphics quality
- code structure
- support quality

These are the only things that matter to me.. It would be cool if public could see this breakdown of each rating.
