^ I very much approve of JMDDesigns idea.

“Keep it as 3 minimum required for the average vote system and say around 10 minimum for the breakdown to appear.”

I think that this update made too many items 4.5 instead of 4 or 5:

Perhaps deleting “1-star” ratings unless they have constructive feedback attached could put that back to where it should be (I visually preferred either full 4 or full 5).

This will simply help some competitors to purchase a new top seller, rate it 1 star and stop its propagation. ;)

I’m really not too pleased to see that, instead of removing this damaging feature as requested by various authours already (including top authours), the star rating system has been updated to include half stars and the numbers of people who have voted in the AJ marketplace.

This feature does not work for audio sold on the Envato network, simple as that. A watermarked version is downloadable before purchasing the track so there is not reason to vote down the track unless the package doesn’t contain the required files which the review process safeguards against. The only use for it is for purchasers (and potentially other authours) to damage the reputation of other composers.

Come on Envato, it’s time to allocate resources into the right areas like the search engine, this type of development really isn’t needed in the AJ marketplace. I can only see the reason for publicly ignoring the majority of authours’ opinions is because you have to roll features out across all marketplaces at once – is that right?

Now I’m 100% sure there are competing authors who purchase items and rate them 1 star! That’s just pathetic.

I would like to say something in regards, my last sale was rated 1 star just few min after the purchase. I wonder, the file is 100mb, how fast did the buyer download, opened the psd, tried to customize it and BAM, angry buyer -> 1 star.. DAFUQ?? doesn’t sound right to me. Why the hell would he even buy a +4 rated item with 100 sales with zero (0) 1 star ratings and rate it 1 star? There is no such item in my entire portfolio that deserves 1 star, otherwise it wouldn’t be approved for sale!!! FFS if you have an issue, contact me and I will gladly help!
