I expect this has been mentioned loads of times, but I’ll do it too for what it’s worth…

The ratings block is really pushing the number of sales out of the picture – certainly in terms of the amount of visual attention that they respectively demand. The overall number of sales is also an important factor in a buying decision.

I like the idea that someone else mentioned, that the detail be hidden until you click to reveal it.

But overall, loving the new ratings. :-)

I will echo tacomusic’s thoughts about the ratings system for audio. It doesn’t work for audio, but it seems you already know this. I hope one day it will be rectified.

As a frequent buyer here as well, I also don’t particularly like the layout. The right hand side of an item page can look very clunky – especially if that item has been featured as well.

This new rating is exactly the same with rating at Wordpress.org site.

There is a preview “glitch” in Firefox on portfolio page:

Hi urbazon, I have had a look into this and think it may be a caching issue. Could you please check and let me know if you are still seeing the issue?

Cheers, Jordan

Is the new rating display (i mean the fractional, like 4.32) will be apply on the author’s profile as well?

Like I posted earlier on, the minimum required votes for the detailed view should be around 10 votes for the detailed votes to appear. Just my 2p. :-)

I love this. Not had a single 1 star rating to date and only one 4 star rating. The rest have been 5 so far, pretty pleased to see the breakdown!

However, I do think there should be a minimum amount of votes to enable the breakdown. Keep it as 3 minimum required for the average vote system and say around 10 minimum for the breakdown to appear. This way, it balances a good amount of votes. 3 in my opinion is too low for the new system, as you may find two people have voted 5 stars, then one person rates it 1, which IMHO is a bit tedious, giving you a 3.67 average rating and yet you might find that clients could well be put off just by the figure rather than actually exploring the preview content first. I know this will probably be a rare case scenario for a lot of users, but it can be degrading if it does happen without explanation.

+1 to the idea for commenting upon rating. Maybe if you click the 5-star tab it fires a function that drops down comments below from buyers? Maybe an Ajax function to load more comments, and restrict the comments to two per ajax load and allow visitors to constantly scroll through the comments? Just an idea!

I just think it would balance a fairer system and the detailed ratings would be much better put to use if there were a broad amount of votes instead of just 3. I’m not justifying people giving 1 star ratings, more of I believe the detailed ratings would benefit more across more than three ratings. :)

Quick formula mockup:

Again, thanks Envato for giving us more statistical informational, it’s defiantly a great addition and I’m sure many if not all users agree.

It’s really beyond me why the new system keeps rounding down everything. Full five stars have suddenly become a rarity.

The ratings section needs to stay below sales numbers. With current position, the sales number doesn’t strikes well. Item price, sales number and then ratings – is the useful order of display.

Greate feature.

Something I noticed on some of my items:

When I check out my 4.5-5 star rated items, there is a single buyer who rated 1 or 2 stars and I ask myself why do I need to suffer this low rating because a total noob purchased one of my items and had no clue how to edit it eventhough it’s 100% simple and organized and didn’t even bother to ask for help. Just shows that there are people with zero (0) knowledge in photoshop that I prefer they stay out of my portfolio. Just ain’t worth the purchase.

This can hurt sales especially for items with only few ratings (+3), for example:

Same story bro. But this feature will kill all trolls !

We don’t round everything down, we round to the nearest half star, where we used round to the nearest whole star. This means an item that was 4.6 stars is rounded down to 4.5, but it equally means an item with 4.4 stars is round up to 4.5.
