but without text review/feedback I will still have no idea what the buyer liked or disliked about my item

This has been discussed at length in this thread :)

Yes, but I don’t see any clear reply form you about this. Is this planned to be implemented in the future? Stars and text reviews

Here you said:

Anyway, rule of thumb, if someone gives a 1-star rating on something, maybe they should have to state the reason in a written public comment.
Yep, that’s been requested a lot. The data we’re collecting will help us understand the primary reason for that rating — it may be that the 1-star ratings are misunderstandings, rather than truly relevant.

My problem is that it doesn’t change nothing for me if envato understand the primary reason for a particular rating. Good to know off course but I don’t care if I can’t see what the buyer will tell about my item.

I want to read a message form the buyer that is about my item and that can help me create better items.

So this is the idea, can you confirm if this review text (amazon style) is planned or not.

Thank You

Here’s the relevant part from my post that started this thread:

An often-requested feature is buyers providing a comment when they rate an item, displayed alongside their username — some propose this should be required for all ratings, others just for one and five star ratings. There’s a lot of hidden features we might need here too (moderation & dispute resolution, marking reviews as unhelpful, etc).

The underlying goals of these requests are:

  • improve transparency for everyone
  • provide authors with insights to help improve their items
  • provide relevant ratings to buyers to help their purchasing decisions
These goals are important to us, but we’re not starting on the build right now — the data we’re collecting and the research we’re working on will help us design the details of a system that best meets the community’s needs, as well as ours.

I used the word “comment” in the opening paragraph, which was probably unclear given we already have comments. I meant a text-based reason for their rating. Does that help?

yep.

You think stars review + text comments is a nice idea but you are not sure how much the buyers or authors are actually interested in this feature so you want to get some info first to understand if investing development time in creating this system actually have a positive return.

I understand this, resources need to be invested wisely.

It happens quite often that customers buy more than one License of the same Item. Some time ago, one of these customers told me that he wasn’t able to rate the Item again. Is like he may rate the Item, but not his purchases.

Can now, or after the upcoming update, those customer rate their purchases? Instead of a one time rate per Item (not License)?

Counting ThemeForest and CodeCanyon authors, we’re over 4,000. If we count all the marketplaces, we are over 20,000. How come 64, or even 100 (counting other threads) can decide about this? I accept the will of the majority, but I don’t think 64 people represent that.
I probably didn’t phrase this very well — I didn’t say that the majority of authors had spoken, I said that the majority in this thread seemed to be in support of a decision we’ve made. This gives me confidence in our decision, but it didn’t drive it.

I understand your point. However, that support might be a fallacy. It’s pretty simple to write things like: -I like this idea! -I really want this! -Deploy deploy deploy!

Instead of taking the time to think and to state the weak points of the new system.

If you want to know if you’re going in the right direction, you might want to follow not my comments/ideas, but a consolidated methodology, such as Popper’s falsifiability theory.

In short, if you want to know if something is right, then don’t listen too much to those who agree by just saying “yes, I like, it’s right, go go”. But try to find people who point out weak points and give logical explanations. Only after your idea have had sorted out a number of serious attempts to refute it, you can think that you’re going in the right direction, or your confidence is now well supported.
