I know it’s been a while, but I promise, ratings is still important to us. The justification is pretty simple — it’s incredibly important we get this right.

I am sorry but this would be good justification 1 month ago, not now.

How is it “less justified” now ?

Please define soon..a day, a week, a month, six months?

Michelle just announced the roll-out plan for the new search engine, so that’s the best indicator for now:

“Over the next 1 – 2 months we will be rolling out the new platform to all the sites starting with ActiveDen.”.

Hi Justin, I appreciate the work you’ve put into this so far. Do you know when authors will have access to all the feedback given when 1 star ratings are given from that feedback form you implemented. This information will benefit both buyers and authors but only if it is shared with the authors. I see no reason why such valuable information should be kept from us. Does it contain nuclear launch codes? :p

Hmm, seeing the comments the user left has nothing to do with the search system, I don’t understand why we can’t see that data since it’s been months since you started collecting it.

Right, I thought you were asking about the ratings-related bugs/quirks in the old search engine, not the research we’ve been doing.

The data we collected was to help us understand the how the rating system is being used and inform our plans, not to be shared directly with authors (and it was collected from buyers on that basis).

The plan was to share what we learned the same time that we announce the next steps for ratings. This is all still true, all still important, but I don’t have a timeline at this stage sorry.

I have a simple question, so hopefully you can give a simple straight answer. The question is: Is anybody currently working on the Rating System? Yes/No

Yes, but that’s half an answer. Are there people planning changes? Yes. Are there devs writing code? No.

well then is a NO

planning we are already doing ourselves for years. what is need is someone actually doing the implementation.

I know Scott Wills will really get mad (sorry Scott) but this is just another example of what I’ve said in the search update thread. I can’t believe any of the staff forum updates and promises. Like really, is not even hard to argument this. Just read this thread and what we’ve promised. Yet, now you say no one works on ratings.

We all had an experience with someone who said it will be there at 5.00 PM then three hours later doesn’t even show up, if called gives no explanation and also became really mad if confronted about his promise.

This is practically the situation we are in now. I know I’ve said more communication from staff would be awesome but at this point maybe we should all take a break and communicate when we actually want to do something.

Thanks for the straight honest answer, I appreciate it.

I think it’s a shame the way this feature has been addressed. Because you had devs writing code (half stars, average and breakdown) and no planning. Then came the survey, and now is only planning.

Is like start building a house, and after some time, decide to call an architect.
