Good News ..
I have few one star ratings for some of my items without any comment or support mail.
Also I recently got one star rating for my new theme and in review section there was a comment that buyer can’t import preview xml file in theme. Thanks to new system I could see name of buyer and had luck to find him actually his website and to contact him. My first question was why didn’t he first contact me about his problem because I clearly said on my profile that I answer support questions. He said that he already contacted some other authors and didn’t get response so he gave one star rating just like that, because of previous bad experience. In the meantime he fixed problem with my theme, said that he’s sorry and changed rating in 4 stars.
That’s one story about reasons why we’re getting one star ratings.
Here is my recent story.
The customer purchased Facebook Template (HTML version) and rated 2 stars. Here is the comment: ” It has no interface to enter pictures, descriptions or new records of any kind. It’s so time consuming to do that I rather pay a higher price for a more user friendly site. Never go to publish it, not worth the money paid unless it gets an interface. The nice looks are deceiving considering the work involved to get it ready.”
It’s ridiculous. How should we protect ourselves in such cases.
You are not the only one. Got one from a web design agency (at least this is how they advertise themselves on their Envato profile) that one my WordPress plugin doesn’t work on their theme. The solution was on this page. We explained the error and showed the page to them, they “yelled” at us how they were doing this for a long and they don’t need lessons in WordPress development. So I ignored them, but if they read this just “add wp_footer() in footer.php and stop being stupid”.
I really wish the reviews were public and we can reply to them … I think we can have a good laugh.
P.S. Most of them ask for a refund. I hope Envato are not refunding their money.
