oh, such a super long thread :)

I have one little question. Can we put the plugin file(purchased by extended license) in our item if we got the permission by plugin author?

sorry if it’s has been answered already but I couldn’t find it :/
Regarding to the rules you can’t. Actually you have to make it sure that plugin in question can not be separated from your work to used in another work.

Uh, i think it is possible ? because GoodLayers saying : “if we got the permission by plugin author” and remember Collis

Collis: In summary, an author can give a separate permission to another author to use their item in another stock item, under the extended license. What do you think? If you’re interested in using CodeCanyon items in themes, does this solve things for you?

BTW, I am wondering this license rules is absolute ? or will work on a developer licence in the future ?

Actually reading after this whole views of different authors, i have an one question ? Like we have to get permission from the respective plugins authors or else, i think it will be more difficult for authors here at themeforest because what if that author cannot see the whole mail ? Let’s for example take a revolution slider, here many authors are using revolution slider and there might be possible that many mails will come to that authors asking for permission, that might me one problem who didn’t have a luck to get permission ?

For Buyers

In the case of buyers, buyers will try to seek the themes which has set of full features included in download file. And what happens at last that unlucky authors will face a lot of problems because nobody buyers is going to buy his/her theme because he is unlucky authors who didn’t get the permission and by the way right now all themes looks same Can anybody clarify this to me ?

Goodlayers, yes, currently if you have permission of the CC author, and have extended license (if this is what that CC author wants) you can include.

CC authors can of course demand more now if they want, say 2x extended, or whatever, as it is now down to private agreement. Note also, they could easily change their minds at some point down the road and ask Envato to remove the plugin, and presumably Envato would have to comply and soft disable the theme until you removed it. Not ideal, but this kind of uncertainty is going to exist until (hopefully) a license makes it more formal.

This is my interpretation from reading all the threads and everything posted so far ;)

RelStudios, it is now TF author beware, and will be down to the CC author to decide how much they want to police it. They will have to power to decide who uses their items in themes. If they give you a no, or give you a yes (and later change their minds to a no) you can’t do anything about it other than remove the plugin from the theme if requested. I don’t think many CC authors would do this, and I would imagine by and large this will all run smoothly.

One question tho (forgive me if this is something obvious and I am stupid ;)), how exactly are CC authors going to police this? – afaik there is no simple way to click on an author to tell if they have purchased one of your files. You can see if they mail via your profile, and you can see if they post on your comments, but if for example, you see one of your plugins included in a TF item on the homepage – how can you tell if they have purchased a license other than checking through your own emails to see if you have granted permission? (as presumably reviewers will no longer check for extended license)

The authors of Layer slider and Revolution slider are going to be in for a lot of extra work if they want to police this aren’t they?

Tools Licence: I think there is some of uncontrolled things which is actually also far from the reality. Don’t give to your friend, do not use an another computer, guys… do you think this is really work like this in real life?

Now, where is an option like home/hobby/personal use vs professional? I think its should not be the same price who use a tool to make gran’ma 20 years younger into the family album or work on 2000 photos because someone is a wedding photographer. I would not say the difference should be big, just slight.

If i selling styles, and the buyer would like to use that style on his Poster, what he should do? rasterize? He can not “not include” the style in his Poster. And i think only the preview is not enough. Then what the buyer will get at the end? No pictures, no Fonts, No styles, No background… Everything is linked…? Im not saying that i could not put together a poster like this, but i think 70% of the buyers will pissed off, then they gonna look an another solution soon.

The other issue is that all the themeforest authors should relies on CC authors. Actually, it will be tightly coupled between them. That’s not good way i think.

Edit: We might consider adding a separate use-in-stock license in the future. It would need its own pricing structure and authors would need to be able to opt out of it separately.

Yes, please do!

Since we need the permission of the author to use its plugin in a wp theme, can I agree with him for a fixed sum and buy just one extended license for all the themes I’ll develop in the future?

So, to resume, all this muddle with the changes over the licensing system, ends up removing the only one that really made sense inside the marketplace. Crazy.
