Your logo is way too ‘busy’ as Australia pointed out. Not to mention the space between the texts, then the space between the texts and the logo that are not balanced, also I would’t use a gradient on that logo, but something more flat. Scale down your logo to 50% and you will see that it doesn’t look good at all.

agree with points made sorry

logo should look good in colour/black and white, scale up and down clearly and not be too busy…

The facebook logo includes neither a face nor a book, Flickr doesn’t use a camera and most web companies have now moved away from using cliche images such as globes and cursors etc.

The most important thing is that it is easy to read and nice to look at. Any emphasis on purpose should be clever and/or subtle. I was a big fan of the flickr circle that used to be used for iphone apps as it suggested a camera without being too obvious. Twitter is a very simple bird icon that would be instantly recognisable because of it’s simplicity.

As my lecturer used to say to me…

“Oh good, you’re getting all the bad ideas out early, good idea!”

I hated that guy, but I quickly began to appreciate what he had to teach.

In fact looking at themewaves logo, that if it was angled so the three lines pointed vertically from the bottom would be perfect (not inciting plagiarism at all here).

You have the suggestion of a globe with the circle, the suggestion of a hand smacking it and the three prongs make a W (web smacker).

Again, not inciting plagiarism but there are clever ways of portraying your brand without stating the obvious.

Oh and btw @themewaves, I really like your logo!

Thanks for your input. Since I agree with all of your comments I’m going back to the drawing board to see what I can come up with. I like the simplicity of Themewave’s logo, but I like the creativity of Australia’s. We’ll see what I can come up with on my own. I’ll post back soon!!
