did they pay multiple millions to get that done, like for the London 2012 logo?

Pathetic, they first denied that this would be their next logo on cnet, now they actually come back and say that it’s legit, here is a quote of Microsoft that was given to cnet back in 3 August:

This is not a new logo. Segoe is the font that we use in many of our product experiences and marketing materials. You will see the word Microsoft showing up from time to time in the Segoe typeface, which reflects the look and feel of the new experiences we are creating. We’ll also continue to use the traditional Microsoft logotype.

So, again – how pathetic they are? Not to that the word “ugly” doesn’t describe their logo enough.

Microsoft’s Logo Over the Years.

When you consider that microsoft is one of the most well know companies in the world they should have an instantly recognisable graphic logo such as apples and shells, perhaps the four squares with a very basic graphic element in on of the squares, perhaps an ‘M’ and get rid of the colours as well, white or black boxes with ‘M’ in the bottom left corner, nice and simple and people would instantly know which company it belonged to. something like this http://www.sketchprinting.com/mslogo.png

When you look at this image, you think that the new logo is not bad.

I still think it is a joke

I think it looks ugly. I’m not like a logo design expert, but I really hate the new logo. Those color meanings just don’t offer enough personality. And the font… just too simple for such a huge corporation.

That’s just my 2 cents

the thing is thought that it works and that’s why they haven’t gone too far from the start button design… as soon as you see those squares in that colour you know it’s MS so technically it’s a job well done… its a touch up, not a rebrand.
