Hey everyone, we just posted an article on notes regarding a new policy for 3D Model submissions. The policy will take effect on June 15th, and is being put in place to ensure all files are provided with maximum usability in mind.

Please take a moment to read this announcement to ensure you’re aware of the new policy.

Thanks!

Wow. I thought that was sort of self-explanatory… I mean… nevermind, must be my imagination (I could swear I had read about putting forth as many formats as possible ages ago, as 3DO was still in beta)

Was rather expecting to see something about wireframe renders, mandatory polycount info, clear mention of material / textures that are delivered with the models, and stuff like that.

Thanks for the heads-up though! Cheers, CB.

It’s a shame that Cinema 4D doesn’t export .obj files without you having to install a 3rd party plugin. Sometimes it completely screws my model up! :(

I (almost) always supply a .Obj export for my files.

But in case i did not supply an export, i always ask the buyers to contact me for any export format via my help.txt

Good to feel the breeze of change tho !

Cheers !

After quite a bit of digging, I thought obj was fully supported by all of the major players. Guess not. I know C4D will import obj, not sure why Maxon has left the export functionality out, seems kind of dumb.

I’ve read that Riptide does a good job of exporting models to obj though, maybe that’s worth looking into?

I use Riptide and have had problems with certain models. It might be the settings I was using. I want to go through all my models and update them with an .obj file.
