It’s gonna be cool! However it’s too bad that I already created a similar from scratch for my new theme…

At least it’ll be compatible backwards when I’ll release it. :P

New update comes about the end of April, so theme devs be prepared!

Same here. I just built a custom interface for a theme that’s very similar to the new default in 3.6. Guess I can just add a version check to disable it with 3.6 since it won’t be necessary.

That’s not as easy as it sounds, you’ll need to use the new functions to retrieve custom content like get_the_post_format_media(‘video’), etc.

A nice new thing to mention: if you upload your own MP4 file, it displays a built-in HTML5 video player!

Noob question: will my post types be influenced by these changes ? I also have some custom metaboxes for these post types, is there any issue? Thanks

If you mean custom post type you registered, no.

No unless you hide/show them according to the post format. We do and had to change the js to handle the new ui

Of course not, no issues with that. All functionality stays the same, only new stuff is added, so for those that registered post metaboxes for different post formats of a “post” post type, they will have work to do :)

Custon meta boxes for custom post types should not be affected.
