New Seach Feature: Search By Name

I plan to start posting a series of videos online on various sites to promote AJ and my music. As in many cases the video’s themselves are not clickable (and users aren’t as likely to hand type a long url from the video), I want users to be able to find me here by simply searching my name, or profile name – So that searching a name will either show tracks by the artist or go directly to the portfolio….or possibly an advanced search that allows you to search by author.

I know a new search is in the works, however I wanted to suggest it now, in case this is not something that was planned as an addition.

Hey Tim, this feature already exists, but in my opinion it is a pretty worthless feature because you need to first understand how to find it and then activate it. The activation is a thing that I believe needs to be repeated on every search – really bad execution – it should be defaulted to try and match authors names if they are searched.

So my updated suggestion would be to just have this automatic.

Hey Tim, if you upload your video to YouTube, you can embed links (and add your referall ID in the process ) both inside the actual video (so it is clickable) and also in the YouTube video description. You can then embed the YouTube video in any Web page you want to. That’s probably what you ultimately need to do to resolve what you’re asking, hope it helps! Simultaneously, you may also like to consider using a URL shortening site like http://bit.ly to create a short and memorable URL that points to your portfolio page to address the issue you mentioned about creating a more memorable URL if ever you need to print it or display it within a graphic. YouTube and Vimeo are really good. You can add captions and all sorts of text under the vid, and then anyone can generate embed code and feature your vid on their site like Scott said. Put some links up Tim when you’re up and running!

Thanks guys, I took your advice and started with 1 posting on Youtube…copied the audio jungle feel and added annotations as well…to bad they can link externally though, but the link is in the description.

Today I started uploading some of my AJ music to YT for promotional purposes…

but, I think it should be the other way around – to get visitors from YT to visit you on AJ
