Hello! The only thing I know about WordPress is that its mainly for bloggers(?), so Im pretty green on this. But with all the great templates on this site, is it just inserting pictures, links and text? Or is it commands, a script language I need to learn first? A lot of hours learning WordPress? Anyway, I think BrutalDesign’s ( http://themeforest.net/item/music-pro-music-oriented-html-template/full_screen_preview/1052670 ) will be my choice!
Im about to go pretty serious on learning electronic music production, so I want to create a site that will feature the best tutorials I can find, tune of the day and reflecting posts of what I learned that day. I have prepared to use thousands of hours on learning this art, so I think its good to have some structure around it. A blogg will push me to post new things every day and help me through the times where my creativity is tapped.
Also, is there like a subscriber system in WordPress? Connected with facebook or twitter etc? So every time I post anything they get it on their wall?
The ideal thing would be to get a lot of readers that also was learning music production or just want to listen to the tune of the day. How realistic is this? Should I keep my mother tounge (norwegian) or do it all in english from the start? If I go with the norwegian language, english people will never get interested, but it will get easier writing and more, if you know what I mean!
Thanks!
This is the wordpress version of the HTML template you said, http://themeforest.net/item/music-pro-music-oriented-wordpress-theme/1582368
You can use this en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/ and you can blog in English to get more readers.
Hi, if u want what you see in the demo then up to a point it is a case of changing pics and text BUT most of the time people want a little more or slight changed and it is here that issues occur.
yes Wordpress is an easy to use CMS especially with the solid templates that you see here but people need to be realistic-even with Wordpress capabilities some basic understanding of how it works is needed.
that said you can probably work out a degree of it from the theme documentation and if not find a freelancer on here to help you. Goods luck
Thank you for answers, I’ll just click “Get started here” at http://wordpress.com/, and do whatever that needs to be done. Just needed to know what I was up against

Wordpress.com is the hosted solution and as such you can only use the themes they supply – wordpress.org is the self hosted solution where themes from themeforest etc can be uploaded and used on your own site on your own server – just thought I better let you know
Jonathan
As Jonathan says, if you sign up to the free service at wordpress.com you’ll find it easier to get up and running but will also be limited to the themes they allow you to install. This service is hosted for you, and you have little control.
For your kind of site you’re going to be better off with the self-hosted version from wordpress.org, which will allow you to install (or hire someone to install) whatever you want theme or plugin-wise, but while the WordPress software itself is free you would need to buy hosting and a domain.
Now assuming you go self-hosted, I’ll answer some of your questions. If you’ve gone for a wordpress.com hosted blog, the following will not apply:

Assuming you love the theme as-is, then uploading it and following the instructions included should be easy. It’s when you need to change colours or page layouts and don’t know how that people tend to run into issues, and need to find someone more experienced to help.

There’s nothing built-in (as far as I know!) to auto-post things to Facebook etc but there are a number of plugins that can handle this sort of thing. Alternatively if you’re using something like Feedburner to keep track of your RSS subscribers, that will post to Twitter for you and you can just use an RSS app on your Facebook page to display your posts there too. This would show up in feeds for people who “like” your FB page.

Obviously blogging in english is going to get you the widest audience, at least at first, but if it’s difficult or less enjoyable for you then that tends to show through and make your content less awesome than it could be, so there’s not really any right or wrong answer to this.
There are a few non-english bloggers discussing this very subject at http://www.problogger.net/archives/2010/01/17/bloggers-from-non-english-speaking-backgrounds-share-your-tips-and-stories-here/, maybe some of those comments will help you decide
Sorry for the long post, I get carried away sometimes. Good luck!
wow, I was about to buy the upgrade at https://en.wordpress.com/signup/ for 99 dollar, because it said I needed it for “Custom Design”, which I thought was envatos themeforest templates. So this was great info! Seems like going for example http://dreamhost.com/web-hosting/ will get cheaper aswell!
And I think I can learn some basics quickly, as I learned Blizzards game engine and script language for Warcraft 3 a year ago. But if handling wordpress.orgs software takes hundreds of hours or a education I might ask a freelancer for help
