agree with generator, the look and feel, heck even using identical shades of blue and paper texture, looks far too similar to the original work. it’s not fair to people who come up with original ideas, to create something that’s very close to someone else’s original. felt’s points are exactly right.

Ok,got it,I’ll try to develop my own style, but still that is not the reason for the rejection,I am sure of it,or at least they should say it if it was…

Yeah pal but the fact that he didn’t give me a reason is still here,He could just say you copied the style or something (Though I am not the only one with this style) They had to accept it.

The guys that are reviewers have hundreds of that cases in a single day! If they could write the reason for every single person, they would never finish their work. :)

That’s a fair point. If you’ve spent a lot of time on creating a file, it’s fair enough to expect a reviewer to spend 30 seconds giving a clear explanation, before ditching your 40 hours of work.

When I started out here, there were only ever a handful of items in the review queue and there was one reviewer. Now there are perpetually 80+ items and there are two reviewers. Maybe another reviewer or two wouldn’t be a bad thing.

I was wondering the same thing. The amount of submissions is insane. At some point they’ll have to add another reviewer.

@ DanChristopoulos

Looking at your animation without taking into consideration whether it looks similar to other authors, from a designers pov, there’s some really nice touches and animation going on for example the boat section, but (and I’m just trying to be constructive here and offer a possible reason why it’s been rejected) there’s also some inconsistencies with style and colour. For example the colour jump from cyan/yellow to green/purple is jarring and both are too saturated, and your art style between the boat and buildings don’t tie together or have a unique quality about them. I definitely wouldn’t add it to the recycle bin though, it just needs some reworking. Perhaps if you try giving your boxes and circles some individuality, use a good font throughout (the one in the second half of the animation is very condensed) and remember that the text is the most important thing, so that should be given priority over anything else in terms of being clear and easy to read. I think it would be a good idea to look at other examples for inspiration and to help with compositions and colour, then put your own unique stamp/idea on it. I hope this helps, apologies if you might be offended but thought you’d prefer advice rather than no advice at all.

right- feedback is critical to helping people improve (which is by the way one main reason, in addition to being encouraging, I leave feedback for why I buy every single file here … is to tell you what I like best about a file)...

to keep it simple and easy for reviewers, I’d propose that envato use a quick numerical scheme that’s referred to with common reasons for rejection, like this:

“file rejected” – reasons 1, 3

and there’s a table of common reasons that’s referenced for everyone, like

1: too similar to existing file

2: length too short

3: not up to envato visual presentation standards

4: envato already has a bajillion extruded logos, no thanks

5: dude, it just plain sucked (lol jk)

or whatever..

with the volume of projects they add here there’s no way they could write individual text responses, like “precomp #4 had too many pickwhip references” etc..

but having a quick table of 5-8 (better written out than my example) specific reasons for rejection, and then referring to those numbers when envato reviewer gives author reason for rejection, could help a bit, with minimal work on envato reviewer staff, while providing useful feedback to authors. make sense?

@ken…

I reckon 3 should be broken down into design and animation.

They could also be more positively phrased to avoid a hate campaign against reviewers. Maybe a suggestion of what to improve in order to get it accepted.

I think in most cases, an honest and informative answer is better than beating around the bush trying to be diplomatic with generalizations and platitudes like “doesn’t meet our exacting quality standards”.
