Just my opinion but when I am logged in and see

“Fun fact

You’ll be the owner of a shiny new red paw after selling just $844 more”

I find it more than a little insulting. I am here as a working professional, not a child that needs to be enticed with shiny stuff.

Just my opinion.

I am not as professional here at all and absolutely fine with these paws, fun facts, etc.
This site as well as whole life is fun game to play and I am happy to be like a child. :-)

Best Regards, Andrey

what I’m finding insulting is someone who finds insulting a info box that tells him the truth.

Hmm, I think that you should stop reading those fun facts if you don’t like them :)

I also find it insulting that whenever I browse Javascript sliders on CodeCanyon, I’m greeted with a little box (on the right side of the page) which tells me to check out the flash sliders. If I’d want Flash sliders I would be browsing Activeden, not CodeCanyon! It’s insulting that Envato tries to manipulate me like that. Joking.

In all seriousness, life is a lot easier when you let other people have fun and maybe, just maybe, join the fun every once in a while! ;)

I like the fun facts. It seems to be “insulting” in starting, when you sell your first project. The time passes, so you sell more, and at the end, fun facts makes the seller stays motivated to get the next level.

In my opinion all these fun facts as well as badges and paws
make the marketplaces more alive and interesting.
It’s like a game where you get awards and rank up levels.

This makes it much more exciting and interesting to keep up- and downloading. ;)

I know this is old thread, but deserves little respect!

My personal opinion is we all have some kids inside who enjoys sweet little things. But also we all should have a mature person alive inside who guides and governs the values and priorities of inner kids. Lack of later part is a disaster and prone to be abused.

The fun facts are not a problem as long as it doesn’t display to the buyers. The badges and little funny rewards are fine but it looks like the same style/format occupied the entire “Elite program” which is misleading – since the effort behind and money values are enormous.

If you look at the Elite program’s benefits, almost all of them are targeted towards “kid” part of human rather than touching the professional part of an author and even the benefits are too much subjective – near zero ($10,000 Ad campaigns? really works?). That gives the impression that all these “for fun” activities taken granted to give the impression of “authors benefits/gains a lot here”. Not complaining about lack of benefits, but it feels unprofessional to emphasize too many small things out of proportion. My long term impression as an author is, we are motivated to goo less than kids! :D

Fun fact:
None of the paws are shiny, isn’t it? There is no outer glow! :D
