There are a few sites like these. And from what I’ve personally seen, most are legit. As always you can check them out and do your research. But basically what these guys do is let you host a fundraiser, some have preset charities, others allow you to add in your own charity. I think this one is preset.
Then you spread the word about your fundraiser, and this site functions as an easy portal to collect funds and make sure they get there.
A friend of mine lost someone very close to him from Cancer. He organized a large charity event at a local bar, where tons of people came and shaved their head to donate the hair to make wigs. He thought it would also be nice to provide people a means to donate money, so he went with a site like this. He had it open on his laptop in the corner with a sign that said “Donate to this charity” (dont remember the name of the charity), and at the end of the night something like 98 people shaved their head, and they raised over $3,000. The site was very helpful. I don’t think that money would have been raised if they were handing my friend cash.

Yes that’s right and I can’t say it better than MarkBrodhuber. Thanks to anyone who’d like to join in!
sounds like a good cause. but there are many good causes. and this is not the place to promote them. when you come to a forum like this and try to promote something unrelated it is SPAM . even if it is for a good cause it is still SPAM . everyone here knows how to find an online charity if they wish to help in that way. or they can drop a few coins in the Salvation Army pot. or they can help out in a homeless shelter. etc.

I admire your girlfriend she must have thrown a lot of effort in it, since now I realize what a huge task it is!
