Filesonic too? Are you f’n kidding me. People from all over the world look at America as a “free” country. Look how free it is now. The only thing that this is going to do is get sites like The Pirate Bay more downloads and WAY more illegal content. That’s all that anti-piracy legislation has ever done. Also, I find it disgusting that a lot of the people on here are SUPPORTING this war against free websites. All you care about is your nice little PSD ’s distributed to people who would never have bought them anyways. All these sites do is bring you publicity, and that’s a GOOD thing. We in Canada aren’t safe either. Pretty soon the whole world will be a corrupted place with no internet. Is that what you want? Do you want to be in ten years selling your designs to people on USB ’s and have no forums where you can get feedback. Actually, you will be just another person living on the streets with your own mac-book pros. Then you’ll look back and remember the time you supported anti-piracy laws.

I’ll say this – if such websites are closed, getting web projects completed in the future will be very expensive, and the reason is that there won’t be many individuals and agencies able to purchase the needed software.

I am sure there are a lot of good developers, in poor countries, that do not pay to get their CS suite, or whatever, because they cannot. At the same time, a lot of people from richer countries, let’s say US, hire those devs, and prices that will keep them unable to pay for such software, but get their jobs done.

In the future, everybody will have to hire and pay for people at rates such as in the US. Those will be fun times, world changing I would add. You won’t see so much innovation online as you do today, because people won’t have money to invest in software anymore.

Just saying.. another point of view.

+1 but different possibility is raise of new products that competes CS with low price (not necessarily now but immediate future). In fact even Adobe’s long term customers already waiting for such a change.

I disagree. With more people actually buying the software instead of “stealing” it, the price should drop. The more that software is pirated, the more that us consumers have to pay to cover losses. Just my opinion…

Thats assuming that piracy:

1)Influences the price currently 2)The company would reduce the price and pass the benefits on to the consumer.

Realistically, unless the market was ultra competitive a successful company wouldn’t reduce the price, they would just take the extra profit and keep the prices high.

Makes no sense to me why any company would lower their price if more people are buying their goods and they have virtually no competition.

But taking these sites down will have no effect on piracy anyways. Many sites have been taken down before, nothings changed.

exactly. look at games prices. franchises that will have guaranteed sales (like the elder scrolls or diablo or starcraft) have higher prices like always. No one decided to low prices just because they know they will have a lot of buyers.

Since the beginning of this it looks like almost all of them are either closing down, or turning off sharing.

I won’t post the full list, but they are all turning off slowly.

Some are, most won’t, and new ones will appear.

Anytime easy money is there, someone is taking the risk.
Piracy won’t end.

Steal in the middle of the street is also a crime. It’s keep on happening daily on every place on earth.
