I have had several inquires for support on a theme offered here. When trying to help, I found that the buyer had one purchase but had the theme in use for multiple client’s sites.

Funny, the buyer didn’t know that this was a problem.

Do buyers not understand the use terms?

You should provide a licence code… which allows the theme to be updated automatically and restrict it to only one site. (It’s an idea… gravityforms.com does exactly this).. very effective.

Well, it’s well close to impossible to track such uses of the themes.. I haven’t submitted a theme here yet and I’m a buyer but I keep saying that the prices here need to go up… TF should really put such unavoidable copyright violations and piracy into account when putting a price tag on a theme.

That wouldn’t be fair. So you want to pay for themes which cost $150…

That’s why there is a choice between one licence or extended, but the extended licence is over ridiculously expensive.

If it goes up then I’ll simply purchase elsewhere.. for instance mojo-themes.com.

A package of themes would cost $150, like a developer license. Not one theme.

Imo, the extended license is ridiculously expensive but you can use it as many times as you want, that’s what it’s there for.

I meant… keep the one license purchase, but for users who want to use it more than once but less than the “extended” license, it would be cool to have a five pack ALSO … not in replace of a single license.

I agree. Single and 5 pack license would be a great idea!

Yep… prices are too cheap and at the rate of themes falling into the abyss… lot’s of developers/designers aren’t making there money back for their time… this is why we see so many look-a-likes amongst authors portfolios… it’s easy to take a theme you’ve spent a lot of time on… and add some flim-flam here… take away flim-flam there… slap a different logo on it and “Walla!” a new theme… you’re back at the front…

However, I don’t blame Authors for doing this because they need to get their money back some how…

Envato is big enough to compete with other template sites out there that are higher priced… So I agree… prices should be bumped… I’m not talking a couple dollars either…

I’d also like to see access to the file downloads locked after a year… with the ability for past buyers to re-purchase it if they want to continue downloading updates and improvements… then we don’t need extended licenses and such…

right now, buyers pay a couple bucks and get access to my continued hard work, updates, improvements and customer support without ever having to pay another red cent for the rest of my life… somethings wrong with that… and that’s why a lot of authors don’t care after their item falls in sales…

Re-purchased themes would also, I believe, get authors to continue developing/improving their themes instead of jumping to the next one…

Thanks for reading my “what I think are good ideas”... may they join the rest of their kind in the abyss, known as the Marketplace forums…

Something you will never see implemented around here…

Find a marketplace that gives you the profit you want from your work. Simple.

Re-purchased themes would also, I believe, get authors to continue developing/improving their themes instead of jumping to the next one…

Not necessary. I have some many TF templates that I only use once and may be the case for most buyers.

Thanks for reading my “what I think are good ideas”... may they join the rest of their kind in the abyss, known as the Marketplace forums…

Amen! Have a good day.

@Daniel_R – I know you’re “the cat’s meow” around here… but I’m trying to contribute ideas to what might help the Marketplace be more successful and you shaking your pom-poms and adding one-liners that this place is perfect contributes ZERO to efforts in improving the marketplace for the majority of authors here… in fact they make no sense to the context of my thoughts at all…

Expand on your ideas or move on to your bible brother…
